Ex-Astronomer HR Executive Kristin Cabot Breaks Silence on Coldplay Kiss Cam Moment: “A Bad Decision” 😳

Kristin Cabot has spoken publicly for the first time about the viral Coldplay kiss cam incident that involved her and former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron. The moment, captured during a concert over the summer, sparked widespread attention and controversy.

In an interview, the 53-year-old former HR executive said she wrestled with whether to speak out but ultimately decided to share her side of the story. Cabot firmly denied being in a sexual relationship with Byron, stating that before that night, the two had never kissed.

“I made a bad decision,” she said, explaining that after having a couple of drinks, she danced and behaved inappropriately with her boss. While acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, she emphasized that she has taken responsibility and paid a heavy personal and professional price. “I gave up my career. That’s the price I chose to pay,” she said.

Cabot added that she wanted her children to understand that mistakes, even major ones, do not justify threats or violence. Following the incident, she and her family reportedly faced intense public backlash, including death threats, which left her children fearing for their safety.

She explained that her professional relationship with Byron began in the summer of 2024, when she interviewed for a role at Astronomer. After being hired in November, they communicated frequently and bonded over shared personal challenges, including ongoing separations from their spouses. Over time, she developed strong feelings for him, though she said she remained aware of the inappropriate nature of their dynamic.

By the time she invited Byron to attend the Boston Coldplay concert in July as her plus-one, Cabot admitted she had developed a clear crush. While attending with friends, the two shared drinks, danced closely, and were ultimately shown on the stadium’s big screen in an intimate moment. Upon realizing they were on camera, Byron quickly ducked away, while Cabot hid her face in embarrassment.

“I was horrified,” she said. “I’m the head of HR, and he’s the CEO. It’s so cliché — and so bad.”

The pair immediately contacted Astronomer’s board, but the footage had already gone viral. An internal investigation followed, and both were placed on leave. Byron resigned the next day, and Cabot stepped down shortly afterward, though she later claimed the board had asked her to return.

In September, Cabot’s estranged husband, Privateer Rum CEO Andrew Cabot, confirmed that the couple had separated amicably weeks before the concert. Cabot filed for divorce in mid-August.

Despite the fallout, Cabot maintains that she has taken accountability — and hopes her story highlights both the consequences of poor judgment and the human cost of public outrage.
