Reddit Down? Users Report Major Outage Worldwide

Reddit experienced a major global outage on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform across multiple regions.

According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, both Reddit’s desktop website and its native mobile applications were affected, triggering widespread frustration among users. Reports of disruptions began surfacing early in the day and quickly surged.

The outage reportedly started around 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (approximately 5:00 p.m. in the UK) and escalated rapidly, with more than 100,000 user reports logged at its peak.

In the United States, data showed that nearly 54% of users were unable to access the Reddit app, while 39% reported problems with the website. The remaining 7% experienced server connectivity issues.

Notably, Reddit’s technical disruption occurred just hours after X (formerly Twitter) faced a major service outage, adding to a turbulent day for social media platforms.

Reddit Confirms Outage, Fix Underway

Responding to the incident, Reddit acknowledged the issue on its status page, stating that it was experiencing “elevated errors” and actively investigating the problem. Shortly afterward, the company confirmed that the issue had been identified and a fix was being implemented.

As of the latest update, Reddit has not provided a detailed explanation for the cause of the outage, but services are expected to stabilize as the fix rolls out globally.
